Restylane Frequently Asked Questions
what
is the cost of Restylane treatments?
The cost for Restylane is $700 per cc around the eyes or $600
per cc elsewhere. If you do not use the whole syringe, we
can store it for you. There is no additional charge when you
come back to use the remainder. There
is a consultation fee of $150 that is waived if your treatment
is performed on your first visit.
what is Restylane?
Restylane is a temporary, injectable filler that is injected
into the skin for facial contouring, lip augmentation and
wrinkle correction.
what makes Restylane different than
other dermal fillers?
Restylane is made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs
naturally in the body to attract moisture and add cushioning.
Unlike most injectable products, Restylane is not made from
animal products and does not require an allergy test prior
to injection.
how is Restylane different from Botox?
Restylane is injected into the skin to decrease lines
or add fullness. Botox is injected into the muscle to decrease
muscle contraction. Both Restylane and Botox are sometimes
used simultaneously such as between the eyebrows, since decreasing
muscle contraction with Botox will help the Restylane to last
longer.
how long do the effects of Restylane
last?
When injected properly, the effects of Restylane last
up to 6 months in the lips and up to 12 months in other parts
of the face. On average, Restylane lasts twice as long as
collagen based fillers.
in what areas can Restylane be used?
Restylane can be used to fill in lines and wrinkles on the
face such as between the eyebrows, on the forehead, the crow's
feet, nasolabial folds (from lip to mouth), marionette lines,
and lip lines. It can also be used to add definition to the
border of the lip, or to fill in acne scars. Perlane is a
thicker filler similar to Restylane that can be used for facial
contouring, such as cheek or lip augmentation.
what are the side effects of Restylane
injections?
It is normal after Restylane treatments to have redness,
swelling, pain or tenderness lasting for a few days. Restylane
is very safe, but in a small percentage of people, the temporary
effects of redness, swelling, and tenderness can last for
several weeks.
how long does the actual procedure
take?
Depending on how many areas you have treated, the actual
Restylane injections may take 5 to 30 minutes.
are Restylane injections painful?
Restylane does not contain an anesthetic (numbing medicine),
so injections can be uncomfortable. Topical
numbing creams or nerve blocks to numb the lips, for instance,
are commonly used before Restylane treatments to make the
procedure more comfortable for you. Most people do not require
an anesthetic for filling in of wrinkles with Restylane injections.
how long before I can go back to
work after Restylane treatments?
Most people can return to work immediately after Restylane
treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. If you have Restylane
injections in your lips, swelling usually lasts for several
days, and sometime.

what can i do to prepare for Restylane
injections?
It is best if you stop aspirin, vitamin E, and anti-inflammtory
medications such as Advil, Motrin, or Ibuprofen, as these
can increase your risk of bruising and bleeding. If you have
a history of cold sores around your mouth and wish to have
injections in that area, talk to your doctor about a prescription
for anti-viral medication. Call the office at 866.HOENIG.9
or email us
to schedule your appointment.
